Sam and I went to the Hoosier Horse Fair a few weeks ago and I bought a used trail saddle for him. Well, for Jeremy and Sam, to be more accurate. (x-posted)Question... it may be just my lack of western saddling experience so excuse my ignorance... but Jesse is getting rub marks on his hips where the saddle pad sits. It's only made itself noticable with his new summer coat, it seems, since all winter with the same saddle/pad there was no marks, but I remember him having rub marks last summer ( Read more... )

Hey, does anyone know the size difference between an english saddle and a western saddle?
I have an 18" Western, now I'm looking to go English, and I'm not sure what size saddle I should be looking for.
       I've heard rumor that it's only a two inch difference, (english being smaller) but I wasn't sure.

*Brit* This probably sounds like a really stupid question, but I've never actually seen a horse in western tack, or any western tack at all for that matter. I've spent the past forty odd minutes trying to work it out, but have only succeeded in further confusing myself.
